Scottish RC racing fascinates many people due to the combination of competitive driving skills and excitement of racing. The ever increasing levels of technology which is now involved in full scale racing like Formula 1 or the British and World Touring Car championships quickly transfers into the racing of radio controlled cars at both competition and entry level.

Radio control model car racing exists in many forms; Off-road racing both indoors and outdoor with many different sizes or scale of buggy, truck and truggy; RC Touring cars, also known as Saloon car racing either indoors on wooden and carpet tracks or outdoors on tarmac like our track at Caledonian Radio Controlled Club; RC Bikes are becoming more popular and we have seen a few being used at our club; Micro RC's are also becoming popular. Tiny versions of full sized cars with electric powered motors these models are sometimes small enough to race in your living room !

The car is controlled by a hand held radio transmitter which sends a signal to a receiver in the car. This in turn gives commands to servos controlling the throttle and steering. The cars can be propelled by an electric motor or an internal combustion engine powered by nitro fuel or petrol. The cars today with single or two speed gearboxes can reach speeds up to 60 mph.

The knowledge which is now required to adjust set-up of the cars by choosing the right tyre compounds and so

much more is extensive. Being able to do all the required adjustments on a R/C car puts this form of racing on a par with full size racing. This hobby can be as complicated or as simple as you wish it to be there is something for everyone just select a car and let the fun begin.

The Club is centrally located, it is also the only club in Scotland which is currently racing 1:5 scale model cars along side there 1:10 scale counterparts. We are the only club of its kind in Scotland. C.R.C.C was started in February 2000 and has gone from strength to strength each year. Our track is fast yet technical and continuous to challenge even the top drivers who have been racing it from the start. This is where you will find everything you need to know about C.R.C.C and radio racing cars.
